I taught at an Accredited Gifted and Talented school for the past four years. I started in the Fall of 2013 as a Teaching assistant for a Yellow Pod class. We had nine students who were between the ages of five and seven. Our class consisted of very bright and creatives students with many different gifts including anxieties and twice gifted traits. Besides learning math, reading, writing, science and social studies, we worked on our social skills, manners, and examined our emotional intelligence. I was able to create lessons and contribute to classroom discussions. We had a thirty-minute time block on Fridays and we needed to fill the time with something interactive that also taught a practical skill. I created Road Trip, which introduced our students to skills like reading maps, researching cities and states online, calculating distance and time, paired with reading, writing and geography.
